Van Tran Has Some Serious Explaining To Do

Much-touted NRCC recruit Van Tran has a credibility problem.

Yesterday the Van Tran for Congress campaign noted in a release that, ‘we have a long campaign and a lot of work to do...'  Who knew the campaign Tran was talking about was State Senate in 2012?  Yet, on July 7, in the midst of a campaign for Congress, Tran actually filed to run for State Senate - three years from now.

"With the revelation that in the midst of a competitive Congressional campaign, Van Tran filed to run for a different office, Van Tran owes Orange County voters an explanation," said Andy Stone, Western Regional Press Secretary for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.  "With his well-deserved reputation for job-shopping, Van Tran sure is working to keep his resume polished."

  • Once touted as one of the "top people" being recruited by the NRCC and having announced his Congressional campaign several months ago, now Van Tran has filed to run for the 35th State Senate District in 2012.  Doesn't exactly inspire confidence in his campaign. • In 2005, Tran announced his intention to run for the 34th State Senate District. [OC Register, 12/21/05]
