Representative Bono Mack First Opposes, Then Applauds, Funding to Hire More Coachella Valley Cops
On funding for additional law enforcement officers in the Coachella Valley and Riverside County, Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack is talking out of both sides of her mouth.
"Knowing how much hypocrisy she has engaged in recently, it shouldn't be a shock that Congresswoman Bono Mack voted against COPS funding, then applauded it - but hypocrisy like that from Bono Mack is still astonishing," said Andy Stone, Western Regional Press Secretary for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. "In tough times like these, Californians need more than Mary Bono Mack's ‘Just Say No' approach to law enforcement."
According to press reports, COPS funding made available through the recovery package, which Bono Mack opposed, will enable Riverside County and several Coachella Valley police departments to hire 63 police officers and sheriff's deputies.
