Ed Perlmutter to Deliver Democratic Radio Address, Join DCCC’s Red-to-Blue Program

As a sign of the strength of his campaign for change, Perlmutter will deliver national radio address, be added to exclusive fundraising program

(Washington, D.C.) – Ed Perlmutter, Democratic candidate for Congress in Colorado, will deliver the national Democratic Radio Address this Saturday, August 12, 2006. Perlmutter will address the crucial role that Social Security plays in the retirement security of America’s seniors and outline his commitment to protecting Social Security from the privatization scheme supported by his novice opponent Rick O’Donnell, the hand-picked nominee of national Republicans.

“What about my position today on Social Security do they not like?” – Rick O’Donnell, Rocky Mountain News, August 9, 2006

“Rick O’Donnell just doesn’t get that what Colorado families don’t like about his plan to privatize Social Security is that it will cut guaranteed benefits for hard-working Coloradoans,” said DCCC Chairman Rahm Emanuel. “Ed Perlmutter will deliver the Democratic radio address this weekend to reaffirm his unwavering commitment to protecting the retirement benefits that Coloradoans, and all working Americans, have earned throughout their careers.”

As another sign of the strength of his campaign, the DCCC announced today that Perlmutter will be added to its exclusive Red-to-Blue fundraising program. The Red-to-Blue program is designed to provide the top Democratic campaigns around the country with additional fundraising, communications and strategic support. There are currently 33 campaigns around the country participating in this competitive program.
