On Earth Day, Representative Dreier Keeps Up the Hypocrisy: Says One Thing in DC, Another in Califor
This Earth Day, it's time to ramp up the hypocrisy meter on Representative David Dreier.
"Last summer, Representative David Dreier couldn't say enough about his support for renewable energy tax credits along with tax incentives for energy efficient homes and vehicles. But wind the clock forward and this year Dreier voted against renewable energy tax credits and against tax incentives for energy efficient homes and vehicles," said Andy Stone, Western Regional Press Secretary for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. "When the renewable energy industry is poised to create jobs in California, that kind of hypocrisy from Representative Dreier is something the Golden State just can't afford."
Representative David Dreier was an original cosponsor of the American Energy Act, H.R. 6566, introduced July 22, 2008.
According to the bill's author, the American Energy Act:
- Provides tax incentives for businesses and families that improve their energy efficiency, by purchasing more fuel efficient vehicles.
- Permanently extends the tax credit for alternative energy production, including wind, solar and hydrogen.
Yet Dreier voted twice against the Economic Recovery Package, which extends tax credits for wind, biomass, geothermal, hydropower, landfill gas, waste-to-energy, and marine facilities, and expands tax credits for energy efficient homes and vehicles.
