In His Own Words: Why Seniors Don’t Trust Lobbyist David Jolly
With special interest Lobbyist David Jolly set to tell more lies to seniors this afternoon, we thought it would be helpful to lay out, in Lobbyist Jolly’s own words, exactly why seniors don’t trust Lobbyist Jolly:
- Lobbyist David Jolly: “Social Security is not guaranteed.” [Tampa Bay Times/Bay News 9/AARP Debate, 2/03/13]
- Lobbyist David Jolly: On Social Security, “Everything should be on the table, including private accounts.” [Tampa Bay Times, 1/31/14]
- Lobbyist David Jolly: “I think there was a lot of good in the Ryan budget.” [Bay News 9, 12/08/13]
Even worse, Lobbyist Jolly’s radical repeal of the Affordable Care Act would re-open the Medicare prescription drug donut hole – eliminating over $186 million in savings for more than 226,000 Medicare beneficiaries in Florida alone.
“Special interest Lobbyist David Jolly’s own words speak for themselves: Lobbyist Jolly would balance the budget on the backs of seniors while protecting unfair tax breaks for his corporate clients and the ultra wealthy,” said David Bergstein of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. “From privatizing Social Security and forcing seniors to gamble with their retirement in the stock market, to bringing back the Medicare prescription drug donut hole, at every turn Lobbyist Jolly would make Pinellas seniors pay more. It’s just another indication that seniors cannot trust special interest Lobbyist David Jolly.”
