Hypocrisy Alert: Representative Gallegly says one thing in DC, something different in Ventura County
In a striking example of hypocrisy, Representative Elton Gallegly voted against the landmark American Economic Recovery and Reinvestment Act and now is touting the millions in benefits that Ventura County will see.
"Representative Gallegly's vote against the economic recovery act in Washington and his attempt to take credit for the benefits his district will see from it is the ultimate in hypocrisy," said Andy Stone, Western Regional Press Secretary for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. "As a member of the ‘Party of No,' Gallegly voted against legislation that would save or create 7,300 jobs in his district and is now crowing about the all benefits it'll bring to his constituents."
In a February 13 press release announcing his opposition to the economic recovery package, Gallegly referred to the legislation as the "non-stimulus" bill.
Then, a February 27 story in the Ventura County Star notes Representative Gallegly's announcement about the funds that Ventura County will receive, including $182,881 specifically for the city of Thousand Oaks in community development block grants and nearly $100,000 for the city of Camarillo.
The story even went on to cite Gallegly's office talking about additional funds that would be coming to region through the Omnibus Appropriations Act of 2009 - which Gallegly also opposed.
This two-faced behavior from Representative Gallegly is just too much to take.
