How Will Congressman Bobby Schilling Face Speaker Boehner After Losing Second Debate?

The night before Speaker Boehner comes to town to reward him for voting more than 90 percent of the time with Tea Party Republicans in Washington, Congressman Bobby Schilling lost his second debate. Congressman Schilling just couldn’t defend backing Speaker Boehner’s failed priorities of giving new tax breaks to corporations that ship jobs overseas even as 170 workers at Freeport's Sensata Technologies -- a Bain-owned company in the district– are losing their jobs to China. Congressman Schilling even voted to end the Medicare guarantee and hike health care costs for seniors by the thousands.

“Congressman Bobby Schilling spent the past two years toeing the line behind his Party bosses and giving corporate outsourcers tax breaks instead of fighting to keep good jobs in Illinois,” said Haley Morris of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. “Voting more than 90 percent of the time with Washington might have earned Congressman Bobby Schilling a visit from his Party boss, but it cost him this debate, and it will cost him his seat. If you’re a millionaire or a corporation shipping jobs overseas, the Boehner-Schilling agenda is something to celebrate, but if you’re a senior paying more for Medicare or a worker losing your job to China, it’s a slap in the face.”
