House Republicans Grandstand Rather Than Solve Health Care Problems
House Republicans proved yet again today that they are more interested in scoring political points and grandstanding in front of TV cameras than in actually working to fix and improve health care reform, and make the law work for their constituents. In fact, it’s just the opposite: House Republicans are actively working to sabotage the law and prevent Americans from taking advantage of their critical health benefits.
After running to the press clamoring for a White House briefing on the implementation of the Affordable Care Act, House Republicans failed to actually show up to learn about how to help their constituents – but they didn’t hesitate to show up for TV cameras, according to Politico. Not only are Republicans refusing to help Americans navigate the new law, they are actively trying to sabotage it. National Journal reported that Republicans “across the country have thrown up all manner of bureaucratic roadblocks” to prevent the law from working for their constituents.
“Republicans’ hypocrisy reached new lows today, as House Republicans stampeded to grandstand in front of TV cameras, but totally failed to even show up for a meeting they demanded about how to make the Affordable Care Act work for their constituents,” said Emily Bittner of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. “It defies commonsense when House Republicans pretend to care about a law they are doing everything in their power to sabotage. The American people are looking for problem-solvers, not politicians hounding publicity while actively sabotaging their own constituents.”
