DCCC TV Ad Hits Dan Benishek (MI-01) on Privatizing Social Security and Medicare
The DCCC released today an Independent Expenditure campaign TV ad hitting Dan Benishek (MI-01) on his support of privatizing Social Security and Medicare. The DCCC ad will begin running today. The ad uses Dan Benishek’s own words about the need to privatize Social Security and Medicare.
Watch the ad about Dan Benishek’s support of privatizing Social Security and Medicare:
National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) Chairman Pete Sessions said that if Republicans become the Majority party, their plan is to go back to their “exact same” agenda under President George W. Bush. Privatizing Social Security was a top priority for President Bush and strongly supported by Republican Leader John Boehner and his colleagues in the House.
Benishek: “Privatizing Social Security and Medicare is the only way to do it”
During a candidate forum in July, Benishek answered a question about privatizing Social Security by saying “privatizing Social Security and Medicare is the only way to do it.”
“…Social Security and Medicare are bankrupt, and cannot be sustained the way they are. There’s going to need to be some tough votes made as to how we’re going to change this. I agree that privatizing Social Security and Medicare is the only way to do it.” [Escanaba Candidate Forum, 7/28/10]
Benishek: Social Security is a “Disaster”
Benishek has also said that Social Security is a “disaster.” During an interview on the Sons of Liberty radio show, Benishek said, “The whole Social Security thing, is just a disaster. That’s an unfunded mandate.” [Blog Talk Radio, Sons of Liberty Show, 5/22/10]
