DCCC TV Ad Hits Brad Zaun (IA-03) on His Claim Iowans Forgot Personal Responsibility Following Flood

The DCCC released today an Independent Expenditure campaign TV ad hitting Brad Zaun on his claim that Iowans forgot personal responsibility following floods and other disasters.  The DCCC ad will begin running today.  The ad uses Brad Zaun’s own words about Iowans allegedly forgetting personal responsibility following recent flooding to highlight his opposition to government intervention after disaster strikes.

In response to the 2008 floods, tornadoes, and storms across Iowa, $4,144,838,867 has been committed through state and federal disaster assistance programs for flood recovery and assistance. [Source: http://www.rio.iowa.gov]  If Brad Zaun had his way, these local communities, small businesses, and families would have been forced to fend for themselves.

BACKGROUND:

At a candidate forum hosted by Iowa Politics, Brad Zaun said, “The fact of the matter is, is what has been forgotten is personal responsibility. We lost that as a country, we expect when there’s a flood or something that’s going on, the government to come in and help us.” [Iowa Politics Forum, March 26, 2010]
