DCCC Launches Automated Phone Calls to Hold 42 Republicans Accountable for Voting to End Medicare

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) today launched automated phone calls in an expanded paid and grassroots campaign to hold 42 vulnerable House Republicans accountable for choosing to end Medicare rather than end taxpayer giveaways for Big Oil making record profits or tax breaks for the ultra rich. Everyone agrees we must cut spending and tighten our belt, but House Republicans have made all the wrong choices.

In 42 targeted districts, as part of this new phase of the “Drive to 25” campaign, the DCCC is launching automated phone calls. Last week, the DCCC launched radio ads in 25 districts.

An example of an automated phone call in Representative Lou Barletta’s (PA-11) district follows:

Hi, this is Claire from the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee calling about Congressman Lou Barletta’s vote to end Medicare.

Everyone agrees we must cut spending and tighten our belt, but Congressman Barletta has made all the wrong choices.  He actually voted to end Medicare, rather than end taxpayer giveaways for Big Oil making record profits or tax breaks for the ultra rich!

Seniors who pay a lifetime into Medicare deserve the benefits they’ve earned. Under the Barletta-Republican plan Medicare ends, benefits to seniors are less, and costs to seniors increase – in order to pay for Big Oil taxpayer giveaways and the ultra rich’s tax breaks.

America is built on shared sacrifice.  Lou Barletta is choosing to place the burden on seniors.  That’s not right.

Please call Congressman at (XXX) XXX-XXXX and tell him to keep his hands off our Medicare!
