DCCC Chairman Steve Israel Statement on President Obama’s Jobs Speech
DCCC Chairman Steve Israel released the following statement about President Obama’s jobs speech at Knox College this afternoon.
“Today President Obama reiterated his commitment to creating good jobs and outlined a strong agenda of middle class security, but one intransigent obstacle stands in the way: House Republicans’ gridlock and obstruction.
“When House Republicans refuse to come to the table to cooperate with Democrats, they are refusing to help strengthen job prospects for middle class families, refusing to rebuild our infrastructure and refusing to keep Medicare and Social Security for generations to come. I urge Speaker Boehner and my colleagues across the aisle to greet this agenda with a spirit of cooperation – not the usual door slammed shut. House Democrats are ready to work with anyone who is willing to put partisanship aside and cooperate on real solutions that will strengthen our economy and create good jobs.”
