DCCC Chairman Chris Van Hollenís Statement on Senate Republicans Blocking Wall Street Reform
DCCC Chairman Chris Van Hollen’s Statement on Senate Republicans Blocking Wall Street Reform
DCCC Chairman Chris Van Hollen released the following statement on Senate Republicans blocking the Senate from moving forward on Wall Street reform after reports of pressure from House Republican leaders:
“It’s unfortunate that Senate Republicans followed House Republicans in siding with Wall Street over Main Street, despite the American people overwhelmingly wanting an end to the risky behavior on Wall Street that brought our economy to the brink of collapse.
“President Obama and Congressional Democrats have been fighting to clean up the economic mess left behind by President Bush and ensuring taxpayer dollars are never again used to bail out Wall Street.
“It’s time for House and Senate Republican leaders to join Democrats in putting the needs of middle class families before our nation’s biggest banks.”
