DCCC Chairman Chris Van Hollen’s Statement on House Republicans Trying to Stall Wall Street Reform Negotiations
DCCC Chairman Chris Van Hollen released the following statement on reports that House Republican Leaders are pressuring Senate Republicans to stop negotiations on Wall Street reform from moving forward:
“By trying to stop bipartisan negotiations in the Senate on financial reform legislation, House Republican leaders have sent yet another clear message that big banks on Wall Street matter more to them than jobs on Main Street.
“The American people overwhelmingly want an end to the risky behavior on Wall Street that brought our economy to the brink of collapse. House Republican leaders must put aside election year politics and join House Democrats in a bipartisan solution that reins in Wall Street’s recklessness once and for all and prevents future abuses.”
