DCCC Chair Israel Congratulates Leader Nancy Pelosi on Induction into Women’s Hall of Fame
Representative Steve Israel, chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, issued the following statement to congratulate Leader Nancy Pelosi on her induction into the Women’s Hall of Fame in Seneca Falls, New York.
“On behalf of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, I want to congratulate Leader Nancy Pelosi on her induction into the National Women’s Hall of Fame today in Seneca Falls, New York. As our first female Speaker of the House, Leader Pelosi broke one of the nation’s highest glass ceilings, but it is not simply her titles earned that make her so deserving of this honor. Over the past three decades, few have done more to advance the causes of equality of opportunity and justice for women, and for all Americans.
“From the passage of the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act to the renewal of the Violence Against Women Act, to the historic Affordable Care Act, Nancy Pelosi has worked to ensure that our daughters will inherit a more just country, with greater opportunity and fewer ceilings to crack. But Leader Pelosi understands that there is still much yet to do to finish the work the women of Seneca Falls began 165 years ago, and she is leading that continued fight, this year introducing our Democratic Caucus’s Economic Agenda for Women and Families. As Leader Pelosi often says, when women succeed, America succeeds—and what better proof than her accomplishments that have moved this country forward and expanded opportunities for all Americans.”
