DCCC and NRCC Agree Tennessee 8 Candidates Should Release Tax Returns

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee today joined an earlier call by the National Republican Campaign Committee urging candidates for Congress in Tennessee’s 8th district to release their tax returns to the public. Given the unique dynamics of this race, the DCCC felt it important to echo the previous NRCC call for candidate transparency and urge all candidates to release their tax returns. Serious questions have been raised about candidate finances in this race and it’s time those questions got answered.

“In this rare case, it appears that the two committees agree that these candidates in middle and west Tennessee should demonstrate the highest degree of transparency and accountability beyond what is normally expected,” said Jesse Ferguson, Southern Regional Press Secretary at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. “The people of Tennessee’s 8th district deserve to know that their representative will be above reproach. We’re proud to be joining the NRCC’s call and urging the candidates in this unique situation to release their tax returns for public scrutiny. In the words of the NRCC, if the candidates in Tennessee’s 8th district are not releasing this financial information then voters have to wonder what they’re hiding.”
